One of the things that I love about living in Los Angeles is that there are so many other inspired individuals. This past year I was lucky enough to work along side actor and author Terrence Terrell on a TV show. Since getting to know Terrence I have experienced his positivity, motivation, and drive. He is someone to keep a look out for, he is passionate about making a difference in this country.
Terrence Terrell grew up in Mississippi with a love of entertainment. He would perform for anyone who would watch and listen. One of the first songs that he sang and danced to was “My Prerogative” by Bobby Brown.
I don’t know what it was but there was something about it that made me just want to move.
As a child, Terrence was bullied but he quickly learned to turn the negativity into humor. As an adult he packed up and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a dream of acting and writing. Since living in LA he has landed many acting roles. The roles include major music videos and TV shows on networks such as FOX, NBC, and Showtime.
Interview with Terrence
What is “I am Blacky” about and what is the main message that you would like others to take away from it?
Blacky is about my experience as a child, feeling like I did not fit into the ‘normal’ group of kids because of my dark skin. I learned to love myself, flaws and all. I want readers to embrace their difference, so that society can not control them with them later.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I was inspired to write Blacky on valentine’s day because I was single, but also very happy just being me.
Where can readers get a copy of “I am Blacky” and “The She’s”?
You can get your copy at the I Crowned Me website.
What has been your favorite part of promoting this book
My favorite part has been when I go into different areas and see all of the amazing youth that have so much power and helping them tap into a little faster than myself.
What do you do besides write?
I am an actor. You can find me on CBS’ “Criminal Minds” and “Unsolved” on USA in February of 2018. I also have a new role as Kwasi on “Giants” the web series, February of 2018.
Who is your biggest motivation and why?
I have two! My grandmother and my mother because they were both strong women who taught me to be my own man. They both were the inspiration for my second book, “The She’s,” (Super Heros Everyday). They were both my superwomen.
Do you have any advice for other who want to follow their dreams?
Never let your past take you out of the game. Dream as big as you can and do it with no fear. FEAR IS A LIAR!
What is your favorite quote?
With a little faith and focus you will have the freedom to do whatever you want in this life.
