Like it or not, social media is a crucial marketing tool and platform for your business, or yourself. Social media is how you brand yourself to others. If you are like me your image, career, and interests have changed through out the years. This year I decided I wanted to make a change on how I brand myself on social media. Through trial and error I am only a little closer to where I would like to be.

Before you decide how you want to change up your social media there are few things that you should focus on. I know it might seem overwhelming that you something you need to focus on a game plan, but trust me it will help.

Think of social media as the gate keeper to you or your business. You want to make sure that your social media presence represents who you are. I am going to go over a few ideas that can help you revamp what others see before they get to know you.

Theme

If you have spent time on social media watching others grow and expand, you may notice that all posts seems to flow. The way to get your posts and page to flow is you need to create a theme. When you create a theme, focus on what you are posting, your editing, and how you are posting. I know, this is a lot for social media, but I promise that if you are trying to create a positive image or brand, this will help. You become more attractive to your following.

Archive

If you haven’t discovered it by now, Instagram has an archive option. This means that you can clean up your Instagram without loosing you memories. Every couple of months I like to scroll through and archive photos that I don’t I need up anymore. This helps keep things clean and up to date.

Consistency

I have mentioned this before in my Instagram blog post. Make sure that you stay consistent with your posts, but don’t post to post. If you have enough content to post a few times a day, go for it! If you are trying to build a business or a brand, try and make time to post at least a couple times a week. The more consistent you are, the more involved your following will be.

Engagement

One thing I have learned through trial and error is that genuine engagement is key. Anyone can like a post, you just double click. I started commenting on photos, giving compliments, and getting engaged with people that I follow. I love this because it helps people see that you are real, and it can build relationships with others. Remember, the people behind social media are real like you. Try and build each other up, it will pay off in the end.

I hope that my tips for social media help. I don’t have the largest following or the most attractive Instagram, but I can tell you that I am learning. I make sure to research and learn new things daily to better myself and share them with you.

If anyone has anything to add I would love to hear from you!
